The CSO expects to get updated data in the coming weeks
The Central Statistics Office has suspended the publication of quarterly crime statistics because of concerns over the accuracy of homicide figures provided by An Garda Síochána.
The crime figures were due to be published today, but have been postponed until the homicide figures can be reviewed by Gardaí.
CSO statistician Sam Scriven told RTÉ News that the CSO made observations about the “recording and classification” of a certain number of crimes in the homicide category.
Other categories of crime are not under review, but the CSO has decided to wait for the homicide figures to be reviewed before it publishes the full quarterly statistics.
Mr Scriven said the CSO expects to get the updated data in the next few weeks.
