Wexford GSRMA NEWS

Plans are at an advance stage for a bus trip to Belfast in Mid November and many of the Wexford GSRMA are looking forward to the over-night hotel accommodation, the opportunity to see the Titanic Exhibition and a tour the Belfast.  Tony Fagan, Branch Sec., assured all that it will be a very enjoyable excursion.  If you want to travel, ensure you pay the Booking Deposit of €50.

The ten-pin bowling games is getting very popular at the Wexford Bowling Alley on the Rosslare Road, on Tuesdays. The organisers are planning to arrange a game of Wexford Branch  -v- Carlow/Kildare.  This is a great chance for retired members to enjoy a game of indoor bowling and afterwards join colleagues for some refreshments.

Plans to bring out a history of An Garda Siochana in Wexford division is progressing slowly.  We will of course take on board anything members may be able to offer, like photos, topics, that family members, friends or relatives may have of members who have served in Wexford Garda Division.  All photos or other items supplied will be scanned and returned to their owners.  Also if anyone knows of any relatives of former members and can supply contact numbers, it will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Garda Anne Shore who recently retired from the force after many years service to Wexford and joined the Garda Síochána Retired Members’ Association (GSRMA).  Anne has given years to promoting “ATHLETICS” in the Wexford Region and recently she was nominated for the South East Radio “Wexford Person of the Year Award”.  We wish Anne the best of luck in the competion.  She is the proud mother of Andrew Shore who has earned his own fame as centre-back on the Wexford Senior Hurling Team.
