Response from Minister Howlin to ALLIANCE

On the 6th May 2015, the Alliance of Retired Public Servants forwarded a 17 page submission to Mr. Brendan Howlin, Minister for Prublic Expenditure & Reform. The submission set out clearly a valid case for the immediate restoration of pension-cuts. Members of the ALLIANCE subsequently met the Minister with his Officials and expanded on their 17 page written submission. On Tuesday evening, (16th June), Minister Howlin released a document for to the Alliance. It will be studied at the Alliance meeting on Thursday.

    Ministers proposal totally unacceptable.

    They’re just toying about with us!

    Immediate reversal of all austerity is the only acceptable option and this needs to be made known in no uncertain terms as a General Election approaches.

    At the same time we need to be pressing hard for a pension increase.

    this clarifies everything and shows the effort and work that went into this .It was a great achievement taking all circumstances into consideration well done to all involved in any way

    How well the government can introduce & pass legislation to cut the pensions for retired public servants. Now they washing their hands & claim that they couldn’t possibly stop top earners, including past taoisigh, from receiving increases to their already huge pensions – including those who were in charge before & during the economic & banking crisis.
    Action is needed to show them we mean business! Time for a march!
