Gerard Blake (Dublin South Branch) was elected the 13th President of the Garda Síochána Retired Members’ Association (GSRMA) in Portlaoise on Wednesday, 13th June, 2012. He is highly qualified to steer the 6000 strong membership for the next three years. A qualified barrister-at-law, the Clare native retired from An Garda Síochána in 2009. While in the force he served as an Inspector at the Garda College.
He also served as Superintendent at Bridewell DMR, in Wicklow and at Garda HQ. At the time of his retirement he was Chief Supt. I/C of Crime Policy & Administration at Garda HQ. The new President gained vast experience dealing with association matters while serving on the National Association of Superintendents and also the Chief Superintendents’ Associations. In 2010, Gerard was elected to the Central Committee and since then held the office of National Treasurer for the GSRMA.
