September 1st marked the first day of Autumn but it was also an important date for the Garda Síochána Retired Members’ Association. We wmoved from the Garda Club to our brand new Head Quarters at No. 5 Harrington Street, Dublin 8. The move was only a few yards down the street but it was a Giant-Step in the history of the association. Back 52 years ago, the first Central Committee of the Garda Pensioners’ Association (G.P.A.) opened its first Head Office at No.38 Westmoreland Street, Dublin to cope with 1,400 members. Immediately the membership doubled and in October, 1962 the Association moved to a much larger Head Office to enjoy a ten year lease at No. 43 Dawson Street. When that lease expired, Head Office was re-allocated to No. 32 Nassau Street, where the association spent a quarter of a century. Getting ready for the new millennium the G.P.A. decided in 1999 to move next-door to the Garda Club at No. 8 Harrington Street. Around this time advance plans were in place to change the title of our association to cope for a new and younger generation of retired Gardai. On the 1st January, 2002, a new phase began as the Gárda Síochána Retired Members’ Association (GSRMA) was born.
Many changes have taken place since 2002 but the biggest one was in October, 2012, when the President, Mr. Gerry Blake and the new Central Committee finalised negotiations for the purchased of No. 5 Harrington Street. Renovation works have taken place to adapt the new premises for your needs. Our 5,700 membership can feel proud that your association has it own brand New Head Office. The Central Committee is anxious to protect pensions and look after the welfare and needs of our membership.
Our Head Office Telephone Number remains the same = 01-478 1525 .
Just Remember the Postal Address is = No. 5 Harrington Street, Dublin 8.
Best Wishes to All in the Gárda Síochána Retired Members’ Association
