KILL-O-GRANGE Gardai – Remembered

Kill -O-Grange Garda Station closed its door for the last time at 9.00 pm., Saturday, 27th April, thus ending 166 years of policing in the community.  GSRMA members in Dun-Laoghaire under Branch Sec. Eddie Ryan assisted local Gardai to mark the occasion and remember all those who served, especially deceased members of An Garda Síochána.

At 6.00 pm, over 500 people which included many former Gardai, Retired members and Garda widows gathered from all corners of Ireland in the local Church where  5 Priests concelebrated the Special Mass.  Also in attendance was Rev. Billy Gibbons of the Church of Ireland Community.  Charles Kavanagh, a lone piper was present to ensure the congregation heard the sounds of the “Last Post”.  The list hereunder of 54 deceased members who served at Kill-O-Granges Garda Station were prayed for and fondly remembered by colleagues.         (* Garda Roll of Honour List)

As always Eddie you have done a great service to the memory of so many who served in Kill O Grange – you have pioneered so many events down the years in the ‘F’ District on behalf of retired members – as a fellow Mayo man – you have done both the Garda and the GSRMA proud. I regret I was unable to be present for the closing event but your invitation was much appreciated.
