Irish Independent Editorial – Praise for Gardai

On Friday, 26th September, the “Editorial” in the Irish Independent reminded the Nation of the heroic work done daily by members of An Garda Síocháin.  The heading speaks volumes:  “Lets not forget – We depend on the Gardai“.  It highlighted two cases where on Thursday, the Gardai were called to deal with the brutal murder of a man leaving his child to school in Dublin while at the other end of the country, the Gardai were involved in the seizure of €8Om worth of cocaine in Cork.  On that very same evening (Thursday), we had the case of Retired Garda Liam (Willie) Barry, a GSRMA Limerick Member who was seriously injured when he and two other pensioners were knocked down by a car in Parteen, Co. Clare.
