Health Insurance Cover — CHANGES

Dail Eireann recently passed into Law the Health (Amendment) Act 2013 which will have a major impact on the delivery of Health Services & Cost of Health Insurance.  The days of the Private / Semi-Private & Public categories are completely gone.  If you have Private Health Insurance cover and admitted to a Public Hospital you will be treated the same and charged differently.  St. Paul’s Garda Medical Aid Society has issued a circular outlining to changes for you to read. They also highlight the need to be observant as to fees charged by Hospital Consultants / G.P(s)/ and the possibility of prescribing Generic Drugs which are much cheaper than the branded variety.  Finally, if you want your Medical Aid Cheques paid much faster, then switch today to electronic payment into your Garda Credit Union or Bank Account.  Circular re Health Act and Consultant fees.
