There will always be people who will believe what they want to believe regardless of the facts. This is a good example of how a proper independent investigation can exhonerate a Garda. While the Garda concerned knew himself that his actions were justified I have no doubt that he had a few sleepless nights after all the furore.
Needless to say the usual crowd of bandwagon jumpers wont retract their allegations all fair minder people will accept that the young Garda did his best in difficult circumstances.

The Garda was doing his job, the sad fact is there is large cohort in society that do not want the law enforced in practice,On Saturday the 9th May Jerry O,Regan had an article on Gardai in the Independent and the actions of the Garda concerned should be seen in the context of that article , While this incident was concluded in a reasonable time frame, many other members are left in limbo for much longer for doing their duty ,The sad thing is I can recall no one saying the Garda was doing his job as he should be doing I concur with John
