Garda Scott Medals Awards

The Garda Síochána Retired Members’ Association extend sincere congratulations to Gardai who were presented with the Garda Síochána Scott Medal Award at the Garda College, Templemore, Co. Tipperary yesterday. Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan had the honour of presenting the Scott Medals to (1) Detective Garda Eoin Colbert (Bridewell Station Dublin) who was awarded the SILVER MEDAL; (2) Detective Garda Karl Moriarity (Harcourt Square) who received the BRONZE MEDAL; (3) Garda Brian Dromey (Coolock Station) and his Station colleague, Garda Killian Barry were also awarded BRONZE MEDALS; while Wexford Garda Niall Murphy and his colleague, Garda Michael Murphy also got BRONZE MEDALS.

A Special Scott Medal Citation was presented to Retired Garda Supt. Aidan Roche who was awarded a Scott Medal (BRONZE) in 1975 for pursuing and arresting an IRA escapee from Portlaoise Prison despite the fact that the Garda was attacked by a hostile crowd.
