Tax Relief on Additional contributions to Spouses and Children Pension Deductions from Retirement Gratuity

Members who had reductions from their lump sum payment in respect of additional contributions to the Spouses and Children Pension are entitled to tax relief on this.

There is a general four year time limit on claiming reliefs. I have researched this and can find nothing to suggest a shorter time limit for this relief

If you had a deduction of this kind on retirement in the year ended 31/12/2012, you should act immediately to protect your claim to tax relief before the four year time limit expires.

There is a pro forma claim form provided. Please get evidence of postage, receipt from post office to ensure there is no issue with this later

If you do not have the amount details and cannot get them before the time limit, send it in with a further note details of amount to follow. It may not be sufficient to protect the claim but it is better than lodging nothing.

THE FORM MUST BE WITH REVENUE BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON 31/12/2016
