Budget 2014 – Retired Paying the Price

Our country always took pride with taxes from the “Working Population” paying the cost of benefits for the young and the retired.  Looks like our  youth have grown-up, left our country as yesterdays budget sees the Irish Government digging into the pensions of the retired sector.  Our retired members will now feel the pinch as the Telephone Allowance is discontinued, Medical Card clampdown continues, Prescription charges increased further, Dirt Tax hiked-up to 41 per cent and the Bereavement grant of €850 is abolished.  These are just a few of the severe cuts on the Retired Sector announced in Budget 2014 yesterday.  To read the Irish Times, click HERE
