The country’s 290,000 public sector workers are in line for pay increases of at least 2% that could be approved by the Summer, the Sunday Independent has revealed. Senior Cabinet sources have confirmed that the controversial pay increases are just the first round of planned pay rises for State employees. It appears the Government may unwind the impact of the Financial Emergency Measures Legislation (FEMPI) earlier than previously expected.
The Garda Síochána Retired Members’ Association, working in close tandem with the “Alliance of Retired Public Servants” will continue to forge ahead to ensure that Retired Gardai will also benefit from the above. In the past we had “Parity” with the serving members in the Public Sector but that link was broken.
The Alliance held Public Meetings in Limerick, Wexford, Athlone, Cork and Galway to update retired members. They also met with Government Officials to ensure pensions for Retired Public Servants are restored forthwith.
